Key ideas based on Brian Johnson's PhilosopherNotes:
Learn (or Train) in Focused Chucks then Rest (or Recreate).
This is focused vs diffused mode.
Let your subconscious go to work in diffused mode.
Writing tasks down on a list before you go to bed helps you to accomplish them the next day (via your subconscious mind).
"It’s important to transform distant deadlines into daily ones. Attack them bit by bit. Big tasks need to be translated into smaller ones that show up on your daily task list. The only way to walk a journey of a thousand miles is to take one step at a time."
Leverage your Long-term Memory via Recall.
Your working memory can really only hold four ideas at a time.
Long-term memory is like a warehouse. Once something gets there it generally stays.
However, to ensure you can access this data when you need it, it is important to practice recall.
Fight through the Pain the Drive Procrastinatin
We usually procrastinate because of the perceived pain associated with a task.
Need to establish a habit of embracing this pain and performing the task anyhow.
It's about the Journey not the Destination (process not product)
If you want to learn, don't focus on the end goal of having knowledge accumulated, but the persistent process of acquiring information.
“In learning, persistence is often far more important than intelligence.”
If you really want to Learn Something, Teach it.
