The Floor

 

Nothing does more to make the garage space feel clean and habitable as nice-looking, easy to maintain floor. First priority should given to upgrading the flooring as the usefulness of any other improvement will be diminished or enhanced by its quality.

Be especially cognizant of the options you choose. Picking up a cheap epoxy kit from the local home improvement store may seem like a good idea, but the actual results may be lest than desirable and short-lived.

Organization

A good floor won't be worth much if it is covered with tons of stuff. Invest some money into good quality storage cabinets and slat walls to organize and hang your things. Not only will it look nice, but it will save you tons of time and frustration having everything in a designated space.

Lighting

To top it all off, make sure you improve the lighting. Nothing is worse than a dimly lit garage to make it an uninviting space as well as difficult to find things. These improvements can often be done inexpensively with a simple change of a light fixture (some improvements though may need the help of an electrician).
